It’s East Bentleigh Animal Care’s 13th birthday paw-ty, and we’d like to invite you all to come and help us celebrate!

There will be kids activities such as face painting, a jumping castle, various games and raffles, as well as other fun and interesting things for the whole family…And did we mention there’s FREE lunch and birthday cake!
Howl could you say no?!?!

This is also a great chance for you to meet our whole team who will be there on the day, and check out some of the interesting things that go on in a veterinary clinic!

So make sure to save the date on your calendars, and bring your family, friends, and pets along for a purr-fect afternoon out at East Bentleigh Animal Care!

For catering purposes, please RSVP for the event via calling, emailing or coming into the clinic.

We are involved in the National Desexing Network’s Desexing month, so prices for desexing only are 50% off. This includes the desexing surgery, pain relief and the follow up consultation to check the animals health and healing, and take the stitches out. With desexing procedures we highly recommend preanaesthetic blood profiles and intravenous fluids to reduce the risk of the surgery and speed up the recovery of the animal, and also a buster collar to make sure the animal doesn’t lick or bite at the wound so it heals faster. These last 3 things are not included in the reduced pricing, any extra medications are also not included.

Snowy’s Story

Sweet Snowy is a 12 year old Maltese princess, she had been very unwell, eating less and losing weight over the last couple of months. On examination it was found that her gum colour was pale and her abdomen distended. Blood testing revealed anaemia and inflammation. An Ultrasound revealed a mass in her abdomen very close to the spleen. Surgery was in order, so we operated and had to remove the ulcerated spleen and the attached mass. Poor little Snowy! So we sent the spleen and mass off to the lab for testing and result came back as cancer of the spleen. Not so great news as the pathologist indicated a survival time of only one month with this kind of cancer if it had not spread anywhere else in the body. So far Snowy is doing well, her recent blood tests showed values all in the normal range, so thankfully Snowy and her Owner can continue going for little walks in that snazzy little harnass!

Nicki’s Story

Nicki is a 3.5 year old Beagle. Worried owners Trevor and Trish brought Nicki in to the clinic as she had been limping on her left hind leg for a few days and it had gotten worse. Nicki showed signs of pain at the left knee joint when examined. Dr Singh suspected cruciate ligament rupture so she was quickly booked in for x-rays and exmination under general anaesthetic. The examination and x-ray revealed rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament. Just like with a human cranial cruciate rupture can be caused by trauma (like an athlete) or degenerative joint disease (with older age). Surgery was performed in early February and Nicki is recovering and doing well.  Obesity can increase the impact on the joint and can predispose to the damage of  joint and ligament. Without corrective surgery, knee problems in dogs can develop into very painful degenerative wear on the menisci of the knee and arthritis.
